Belt Buckles
of the Old West
(1850-1907 Era)
Collected here and there; Phoenix, California and Oregon at
various Gem, Mineral, Gun and Antique Shows between 1968 - 1989.
These fine brass commemorative buckles were supposedly given out
between the years 1851-1875 by Wells Fargo Bank for opening a bank
account. Other companies gave them as gifts to respected employees,
friends, job promotions and retirees. The San Francisco earthquake and
fire in 1903 destroyed all records of the Wells Fargo Bank.
Many of the buckles originally were made between 1850-1900 in England and
Europe by the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundries. Tiffany of New York also
had many records destroyed during a fire in the 1940's.
Several are marked Tiffany & Company.
The price is $2000 for the collection of 15.
